The success of any undertaking in web hosting relies partly on how large you can expand your network. To do this, you have to be able to add new users to your system and in turn manage those users who are already in your network.

This tutorial will give you step-by-step instructions on how to create users in Direct Admin:

1. Log in to Direct Admin as reseller.

2. You can click the “Add New User” link to add a new user or you can click the “List Users” link. For this tutorial, you will start by clicking the “List Users” link.

3. Clicking the link will bring you to the main user’s page where you can create new users, change the passwords of the existing users or delete existing users.

4. Click the “Create User” link to start the process of creating a new user.

5. Once you are redirected to the “Create User” main page, start by entering a username that is unique to the server.

6. Next, you will need to enter the email address of your new user.

7. Set a password and enter it in the appropriate space.

8. Re-enter your password.

9. Enter the domain name of the new user minus the “www” prefix.

10. After entering the previous information, it is now time for you to assign a user package for your new user.

11. Choose from the dropdown menu the appropriate package for your new user. This will depend on the hosting package that the user ordered from you.

12. Indicate whether the new user’s domain will use a dedicated IP address or a shared server IP.

13. Select the most appropriate IP by clicking it from the dropdown menu.

14. Upon finishing the IP selection, you can now click the “Submit” button found at the bottom of the page.

15. The next page will inform you if the new user has been created and setup in the server.

16. Scroll down until you find the dialogue box where you can enter notes about your newly created user.

17. Fill in the box with any information that you want to attach to this new user.

18. Click the “Save Comments” button once you are done.

19. You will be redirected to a page containing details of the new user that you have just created. Scroll down.

20. Notice the portion with the Email and Name options. You can change the new users email and name by typing in the new ones and clicking the “Save” button.

21. Further down the page, you will see that you can also re-send the new user’s welcome email just by clicking on the “Send” button. You may also enter new comments regarding your new user.

22. Scroll back to the top of the page and click the “Home” icon found on the upper left corner of the page.

23. This will take you back to your Direct Admin main page. Click on the “List Users” link.

24. You will be redirected to the List Users main page where you will see that the new user you have just created is now part of the users list. Once you are done looking over the page, click on the “Home” icon at the upper left corner to take you back to the Direct Admin main page.

25. You now know how to create and setup new users in Direct Admin. Remember that all you have to do is return to the users page should you need to modify the passwords of existing users, or send them messages.
